  • John Fisher

    Family Camp - Week 3

    June 26th-29th

John is one of the Elders at Journey. He feels incredibly blessed to be married to his wife Abby since 2006, and together they have three awesome kiddos. John is originally from Tennessee and transplanted here to Fargo-Moorhead in 2008.

He was a rebellious kid and lived apart from God until he was in high school when God rocked his world. He went to college at Western Kentucky University where the Lord called him out to pastor His people. He then attended seminary at Southern Seminary where he made it so apparent that missions and starting Churches was the plan God had for him!

John is passionate about leading people and movements that change peoples lives and communities.

One of the greatest joys he has in life is seeing peoples lives changed. How they grow and how the community grows because of the message is an incredible journey that he has dedicate his life to. John has previously led family camp chapel at Camp Joy and is excited to return.

  • Maddie Fain

    Middle School - Week 6

    July 20th-25th

Hi, my name is Madelynn, but most people call me Maddie. I grew up on the White Earth Reservation here in Minnesota, where God eventually placed a deep love in my heart for youth ministry. After high school, I moved to California to attend Calvary Chapel Bible College, where I studied Biblical studies and discovered a passion for missions and discipleship. That passion has since taken me all over the world, from serving long-term in Sri Lanka and Indonesia to volunteering at an orphanage in Hidalgo, Mexico, where we teach the children English and about the love of God!

In 2024, I spent just over half a year studying abroad in Australia through Youth With A Mission (YWAM) University of the Nations, where I completed an intensive discipleship training program and deepened my relationship with the Lord. I also recently graduated from the University of Minnesota through the tribal college in Mahnomen with a focus on children’s education.

Currently, I work as a Comprehensive Assessor for the White Earth Tribe, focusing on mental health and substance abuse counseling. I also lead youth nights and girls' Bible studies at Community Alliance Church in Detroit Lakes. Soon, I’ll be interning at Diamond Willow Ministries’ Takota Youth Center in Crow Creek, South Dakota, over the summer, where I’ll be discipling Native American youth! Growing up on the reservation, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles my people face, and God has given me a deep calling to pour into the next generation, especially within Native communities.

I have very musically gifted and talented siblings, and one of my favorite things to do is worship with my family! I am also active in a Womans Volleyball League yearly, so I guess you could say I enjoy keeping myself busy! Even though I’m definitely more of a warm-weather person (Minnesota winters were never quite meant for me), I still enjoy winter sports like snowboarding and ice skating!

I’m incredibly excited to be speaking at Camp Joy this year! My heart is for young people to know that no matter what challenges they face, Jesus is worth everything.

Fun facts about me... Outside of ministry and work, I love spending time outdoors—whether that’s hiking, fishing, or traveling somewhere new. I am pretty active in fitness and nutrition! I come from a big family and am the second oldest of six siblings, so it is never boring on the farm! In my free time, I’m also working on growing my jewelry business, which is inspired by my Native American and Samoan heritage.

I can't wait to meet you all and see what God has in store for Camp Joy!

  • Alfred Tofibam

He believed in Jesus and was baptized in his local Baptist church at the age of 12. God changed his life at the age of 22 and taught him how to overcome the desires of the flesh by the Holy Spirit. God called him to ministry and he attended seminary in Cameroon obtaining a Bachelors of Theology. He met Naomi while at seminary and later joined her in Fergus Falls MN, where they married in 1999.
